1. How much does a stairlift cost?

Every installation will be different due to each staircase varying in dimensions and different options being available for the varying needs of our customers. Due to this, quoting a price on our website could be misleading.

Your stairlift will be manufactured especially for you and to your staircase dimensions in our own factory. It will be built to your own specifications with your individual options to suit your requirements and budget.

2. What kind of warranty does Lakeland Stairlifts offer?

All of our stair lifts have a fully comprehensive 12-month guarantee. If any component should fail due to faulty manufacture during the first year of ownership, we will send a fully trained service engineer to get your stairlift back to full working order free of charge.

After that, there are several different Cover Plans available to suit a range of budgets.

Remember that a Stairlift is a very, very reliable piece of equipment. Acorn stairlifts are manufactured to the world's highest standards and exceeds the requirements of most of them, ensuring life-long safety, reliability and engineering excellence.

3. If I arrange to be visited by a Stairlift Surveyor, will I get the hard sell to buy a stairlift?

Absolutely not! The survey is completely free and without any obligation on your part to buy anything. A surveyor will only come round if you specifically request it, allowing you to tell them about your individual requirements in the comfort of your home.

Our Surveyor can then accurately measure your stairs and assess your specific needs. Once your staircase has been surveyed, you will be given your own free, fixed written quotation. It is then entirely your decision - in your own time - whether to buy or not.

4. How long does it take to install a Stairlift? Will I need to redecorate?

Because your stairlift is manufactured to the exact dimensions of your home, it usually takes less than an hour! The stairlift is fitted to the treads on the staircase, not to the wall. Using our own fully trained Installation Engineers means the process is quick, clean and simple.

Before they leave they will make sure that the stairlift is tested thoroughly, demonstrate all the features - making sure you are perfectly happy and know how to use it - and of course leave everything as clean and tidy as you had it before.

5. What happens if there is a power failure, will I be stranded?

All of our stairlifts are battery powered and will continue to work even if you have a power cut. A fully charged battery will complete approximately 15 to 20 trips (return) on an average staircase. The actual number is dependent on the length of stair, angle of staircase and the weight of the user.

6. The user of the stairlift has some problems bending their knees - or the stairway is quite narrow. Will your Stairlift fit?

Shouldn't be a problem! We have an option called the Acorn Superglide Perch. It is particularly useful for those with limited knee articulation and for installations where the stairway is unusually narrow. If the staircase is at least 26" (66cms) wide, the Acorn Superglide Perch will do the job.

7. What is the maximum weight that your Stairlift will cope with?

The standard Stairlift has a maximum user weight is 280lbs (20 stone).

We do have an option that is suitable for larger users, weighing a maximum of 350lbs (25 stone).

8. The stairway has a turn in it. Can I still have a stairlift installed?

Staircases come in many varied sizes and shapes, with 'fans' of steps at the top or bottom, sub-landings, etc. Our curved stairlift provides the ultimate in versatility. Your stairlift surveyor will be able to provide you with all the options available to you and answer all of your questions.
